At every meeting of the Ministry Council, a report on the financial condition of the congregation is heard and discussed. For the next several weeks, this space will be devoted to an explanation of various facets of our congregational finances. Today we will consider the four ministry areas on the offering envelopes:

• Operating Fund – At about $3.8 million, this fund represents by far the largest percentage of our expenses. It covers the day-to-day operating costs of church and school.
• Mission Fund – Our goal for 2008 is $485,000. Dollars contributed for missions help to support outreach in our community, state, nation, and around the world.
• Capital Improvements – Larger expenses for building repair and maintenance come from this fund. Examples: a new church roof in 2007 and replacing portions of the roof and ceiling tiles, as well as some of the carpet, at school this year. Approximate budget for 2008 is $88,000.
• Church Parking Lot – This is a temporary addition to the offering envelopes to facilitate gifts toward the $170,000 we still need to raise to fully fund this project.
