Frequently Asked Questions
"It seems as if St. Lorenz is always ‘running in the red’ with our Operating Fund. Why is it, then, that we always seem to have money for ‘luxury’ items like electronic sign boards, new buildings in the Churchgrove and video monitors in the church?"
The answer is in how such items and projects are funded. Most of the "extras" which enhance the ministry of St. Lorenz are a result of direct, special gifts given by individuals, our St. Lorenz Foundation, or other family foundations, for a very specific purpose. Those gifts are ALWAYS and ONLY used for the purpose for which they were given. No Operating Fund monies are used for such projects, nor are funds given for those projects ever used for Operating Fund expenses.
With regards to improvements in the Churchgrove: camping and rental fees are used to pay for general maintenance and are added to special gifts to fund building and other improvements. In addition, most (sometimes all) of the labor is donated by our Willing Workers or other individuals.
We are indeed grateful for all the special contributions of time, talent, and treasure which help to make St. Lorenz such a beautiful and vibrant part of our community.
