"With a budget as large as St. Lorenz has, what possible difference can my offering make?"

It makes a difference to God. Your offering brings joy to God’s heart as it demonstrates to Him the extent of your love for Him and of your willingness to make a sacrifice for the sake of His ministry at this congregation.
It makes a difference to you. The Bible describes many benefits a Christian receives from being generous in their giving. Among them are: being His partners in sharing the Gospel (Philippians 1:4); learning to trust Him more (Malachi 3:10); learning true contentment (1 Timothy 6:6-8); having a tangible way to say "thank you" to God (2 Corinthians 8:24).
It makes a difference to St. Lorenz. The majority of our funding comes from faithful, regular contributors, not major donors. In addition to "paying the bills" for ministry here, your offering also gives encouragement to congregational leaders and members, as we observe many people understanding the value of the ministry provided here. On the other hand, the fact that last year 58% of our members gave $0 - $3 per week is quite discouraging to all who want to do as much effective ministry as we possibly can.
