Advent Service Songs

Dear Parents,

Printed here are the songs that the children will be sharing at our Advent Service on December 10th at 5:00 PM at St. Lorenz Church. Please spend some time over the next few weeks going over these words with your child.

FROM HEAVEN ABOVE TO EARTH I COME
1.    From heaven above to earth I come          (Extend both arms straight up)
To bear good news to ev’ry home             (Bring arms down in front)
Glad tidings of great joy I bring        (Cup hands around mouth)
Whereof I now will say and sing:        (Spread hands on either side of mouth)

2.    To you this night is born a child        (Point to audience)
Of Mary, chosen virgin mild;                     (Put both hands over heart)
This little child of lowly birth                   (Cradle arms in front as if holding a baby)
Shall be the joy of all the earth.        (Extend both arms straight up)

Angels We Have Heard on High
1.    Angels we have heard on high, sweetly singing o’er the plain
And the mountains in reply, Echoing their joyous strains.
Refrain: Gloria in excelsis Deo.
             Gloria in excelsis Deo.

LET US ALL WITH GLADSOME VOICE
1.    Let us all with gladsome voice           (Cup hands around mouth)
Praise the God of heaven                  (Point to heaven)
Who, to make our hearts rejoice, (Hold hands over heart)
His own Son hath given                    (Stretch arms out to make a cross)

2.    We are rich, for He was poor;            (Hold one hand in front, palm up, then the other)
Is not this a wonder!                 (Hold hands up at side of shoulders; shrug shoulders)
Therefore praise God evermore   (Raise hands over head.)_
Here on earth and yonder                 (Lower hand to front/sides, palms up)

GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN
Refrain:
Go tell it on the mountain          (Hands in front, fingers together, point up {make a “mountain”})
Over the hills and ev’rywhere;            (Palms down, move arms left to right, tracing “mountains”)
Go tell it on the mountain          (Hands in front . . .)
That Jesus Christ is born!                  (Cradle arms in front as if holding a baby)

1.    While shepherds kept their watching. (Shade eyes with one hand)
       O’er silent flocks by night,
Behold, throughout the heavens        (Extend arms straight up)
There shone a holy light                          (Hold hands on sides of face, palms forward and fingers extended)
