Meet Our Teachers

Mrs. Mary Bierlein (Classroom Link)

 Born:  Saginaw, Michigan

 Education:  B.A. from S.V.S. U, Colloquy from Concordia, Ann Arbor, Michigan,  Masters Degree in Early Childhood from S.V.S.U.

Ministry Statement:  I believe that all children can learn using their God given abilities.  As a teacher, I need to instill a love for school, others, and most importantly, Jesus, to all my students.

 

Mrs. Dora Hyslop (Classroom Link)

Born:  St. Charles, Missouri

Education:  Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education from Concordia, University, River Forest, Illinois

Ministry Statement:  In my ministry at St. Lorenz, God enables me to help children grow in the knowledge of the world God has given us and love for their Savior.

 

Mrs. Lindsey Hessler (Classroom Link)

I was born in Saginaw, Michigan and have lived in the Richville/Frankenmuth area all my life.  After attending Vassar High School, I graduated from Concordia University in Ann Arbor with a BA in Elementary Education, LTD, and a major in Art.  I am currently teaching a Kindergarten homeroom.  I enjoy teaching my students and my goal each day is to tell each one of my children that they are specially made and loved by Jesus.  I am so blessed to have a job where I can share the love and joy of Jesus with His little lambs.

End of Marking Period - January 16th

The 2nd marking period will end on January 16. Report cards will be distributed on Friday, January 23. Parents are encouraged to contact their child’s teacher if they have any concerns related to student progress.
Spelling Bee - January 22nd

Our school Spelling Bee will be held on January 22 at 1:30 p.m. in the gym. This involves students from Grades 5-8. Please feel free to join us! The top speller will represent our school in the Saginaw Area Lutheran School Bee.
Parents Empowering Parents - January 28th

Being a parent can be very difficult. How would you like to find encouragement, support, and information to make your parenting easier? Twice a month, Parents Empowering Parents will be meeting to share an appropriate family-related topic with parental discussion and sharing to follow. Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, January 28, at around 7:50 a.m. in the Learning Center at St. Lorenz School where we will discuss “How to Set Goals with Your Children.” If you are a parent or grandparent and want to glean and share ideas with others come join us. If you have questions, you can call Kay List or Sharon Bergman.
Spartans Win Husky Holiday Classic

During the holiday break, our Central and North boys’ basketball teams were combined to compete in a tournament at St. Helen’s in Saginaw. The Spartans defeated St. Stephen fairly easily in the first round, and then won 55-46 over St. Thomas West in the semifinals. However, the final game against Holy Family was a real battle. Down 19-17 at the half, St. Lorenz fought back to take a 4-point lead into the fourth quarter. Holy Family would not give up and hit a 3-point shot at the end of regulation to tie the game and send it into overtime. The teams traded baskets in the first extra period sending the game into double overtime. With less than a half minute remaining, D. Fischer drew a foul and hit both ends of a 1-and-1. After a good defensive stand, the Spartans recovered the ball, and C. List hit a breakaway lay-up to seal the victory 42-38. Z. Scherzer led all scorers with 12 points, and Z. Pendleton and I. Fischer also hit some key shots. Every team member contributed, and it was a great experience for all of them.
