The children enjoy singing and "reading" this fun song.

On October 10, the Kindergarten children will be cruising the St. Lorenz halls with their vehicles.  The parade will begin at 10:20 for the whole school to see.  If you did not pick up a box to complete this great project, please do this by Wednesday, October 1. Also, please let your child be creative with this activity.  .

 

Each day, the star dictates a story to me.  The student has to come up with a title.  Next, the student dictates sentence by sentence his/her story.  The rest of the class repeats the sentence.  The star decides if the sentence ends with a period or exclamation point.  This tells the others if we should read it in our regular voices or with a little extra enthusiasm.  After the story is complete, the children read the completed story.  During language arts, we circle sight words or the letter we are working on.   We also decide if the story is fiction or non-fiction.  The next day, the child brings the story back with a drawn picture to illustrate the story.  Once again, the children read the story.  Wow!  Now the star is a great author and illustrator.

 

Please don't be alarmed if the sentence is not grammatically correct.  This is how the student dictated the story.
